About
GIN
How it is distilled and what to expect...
40-15 GIN, as well as our second brand VOLUME 7 GIN, is produced at De Moor Distillery in Aalst; a family-run distillery that has been around since 1910 and where traditions are highly valued.
All distillations are done in good old copper Holstein kettles and stills.
It all starts with the in-house distillation of a 100% barley grain alcohol. This is the flavourful base upon which 40-15 is then built.
In the second distillation, a set of 15 carefully selected, classical botanicals is added, among which juniper berries, nutmeg, Jamaica pepper, angelica root, cinnamon, dried peel of lemon, green lemon and orange,...
harvested around the globe.
The produce of this second distillation is then further refined by adding in-house produced natural distillates.
The final result is a well-balanced spirit, with a very aromatic, yet classic taste. Bottled at 40% alc.vol. our gin is smooth enough to be enjoyed straight over ice and has enough robustness to stand out in your perfect serve.
Each bottle-neck is then finished with our branded tape by hand in our own workshop.
Tasting notes
The barley base is noticeably present in the nose and followed by the juniper tone. The 15 refined botanicals add a rich, well-balanced and clean taste. In the recommended G&T mix, always served with a slice, a subtle touch of green lemon brings together freshness and fullness of taste.
